Our History

The Hemlock Farms Community Library was founded in 1974 as part of the Hemlock Farms Women’s Club. In July 1975 the Library formed its own committee and eventually became independent from the Womens Club. It started in a small 12’ x12’ room in the Association Office then located by the 402 entrance. When it was realized that the library needed more space the community made the present building, a building built for the former owner of the Brewster estate, available. In 1996 it was realized that more room was needed and renovations and addition were made to the building.

The Library is staffed completely by volunteers and run by a board of directors. We have books for all age groups from easy reading to adult fiction and non-fiction. We have many programs available to the community. In addition to our Tuesday morning Pre-school programs, Hemlock Farms Community Library offers many special programs to the Community. Our very popular summer children’s reading program is open to all school age children. Our summer Wednesday evening programs are available, some are for children only, and some are for families. We also have special programs like the Escape room, craft classes, and Device Tech Tuesdays.

Besides lending books, we have a bookstore where you can buy a bag of books for $5.00. We also have a large DVD lending section.
